Happy New Year!
We have opened up bookings for the second half of the season and volleyball training will be back with the usual sessions from this Wednesday.
There are a few updates to the Volleyball England guidance since we finished training before Christmas.
The main one of these is that they are now recommending that all participants take a lateral flow test before either a training session or competition and to isolate if the result is positive. Please help us to keep all players and coaches as safe as possible by taking these tests.
Another change is that spectators are not allowed in the sports hall. At Riverside the seating in the balcony is a public area and unless we hear anything from Riverside management we assume that spectators can still use this area (subject to the usual rules on mask wearing indoors).
Players, coaches and officials should wear a mask when they are not on court.
With the increase in cases we will also be increasing the frequency of sanitising the volleyballs and players must sanitise their hands before starting play and at convenient breaks in play (e.g. drinks breaks or timeouts) and at the end of sessions.
Please remember that we do have limits on the numbers attending each session and at the moment we will not be extending these limits. A few of our sessions before Christmas were running close to or reaching the limits, so please do book your session before starting your journey to the sports hall as we don’t want anyone to have a wasted journey. Equally if you have booked a session and then find out that your can’t attend please email either myself or firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can cancel your place and open it up for others.
If there are any changes in government guidelines which affect what we can do, we will let you know as soon as we can, hopefully we will be able to continue to the end of the season.
